Shenzhen is home to one of the finest contemporary art galleries in China. OCAT opened in 2005 and exhibits both local and international contemporary artists. Admission is free.
Lowu Commercial City (Lowu Shangye Chang)
This mall with more than 1,500 shops has everything a shopper wants (and doesn’t need). The third floor offers off-season designer clothes for a fraction of their original price or head to the fabric market to get something original created.
Dongmen Market (Dongmen Road)
Whether it is clothes, electronics or jewellery, you won’t find better prices anywhere than at this massive market that is packed with cheap merchandise. Get ready for some serious shopping (and bargaining).

This is the best Indian restaurant in town. The chefs have been bought to Shenzhen from some of India’s top hotels. Expect to pay around RMB70 (SGD13.60) per person.
Ding Tai Feng (Dong Men Central Road, Luohu District)
For dumplings so delicate and fresh they melt in your mouth, pay Ding Tai Feng a visit. This place offers the ultimate dumpling experience; must-try dish: xiao long bao. Expect to pay around RMB40 (SGD7.80) per person.

Ingest some Moroccan spice with a visit to this North African oasis. To complete the Shenzhen experience, catch the belly-dancing performances throughout the night. Open until 2am.
