Advice from an avid foodie – Tiger Airways Australia’s Consumer Communications Manager

For affordable yet exquisite authentic Chinese cuisine, Ying Chow Chinese Restaurant is hard to beat. Located in the heart of the foodie district, it’s a local treasure. I like to order lots of different dishes and share the incredible range of flavours among friends. Favourites include steamed oysters in garlic and shallots, garlic steamed prawns and stir-fried scallops with snow peas. Meat lovers are well catered for with dishes such as red vinegar ribs, beef dim sum and coriander chicken but vegetarians won’t feel left out thanks to another one of my favourites – the steaming claypot dishes.

If you’re looking for a casual dining experience that also offers great value for your money, try Café Saigon’s $35 All You Can Eat dinner menu. This is modern Asian at its best, featuring Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese specialties.
My personal favourites are the salmon sashimi platters, teriyaki prawn skewers, tofu and vegetable soup, the dim sum selection, Peking duck and satay chicken skewers. And I can never seem to pass up the healthy vegetarian pot stir fry with tofu, mushroom and seasonal vegetables. On the regular menu, the red duck curry is also well worth trying.
